American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Releases 2005 Procedural Data The AACS data is collected by polling the Academy's U.S.-based members and for the sixth year in a row, liposuction proved to be the nation's top cosmetic surgical procedure with Botox (R) injectoins being the top non-surgical cosmetic procedure. Botox maker's lobbying assailed: 'Grass-roots' group fighting planned tax is company-created When a man from Citizens Against Unfair Health Care Taxes called Dorothy Lowry last fall, he asked if she would write a letter telling the state she opposed a sales tax on Botox. Lowry thought she was taking part in a grass-roots campaign. Instead, she was taken in by a company's lobbying ruse. The kind guy on the other end of the line had been hired by a marketing company contracted out by Botox maker Allergan Inc. Allergan Announces Promotion of F. Michael Ball to President Allergan, Inc. (NYSE:AGN) today announced that F. Michael Ball assumed the position of President, Allergan effective February 1, 2006. Additionally, Allergan announced the appointment of Raymond Diradoorian to Executive Vice President, Global Technical Operations. With the appointment of Mr. Ball to President, David E.I. Pyott will maintain his position as Allergan's Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. The Paquin Group forms Healthcare Retail Partnership, LLC to Offer MedSpa Projects to Hospitals The Pacquin Group has formed the Healthcare Retail Partnership, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary dedicated to establishing retail-based partnerships with hospitals. Although HRP will be equipped to provide a wide range of offerings in partnership with their hospital clients, the partnership will initially focus on direct marketing, eCommerce, and Medical Spa projects. Houston-based Medical Group in Talks to Purchase Medical Tourism Resort in Philippines Officials of the St. Luke's Episcopal Health System revealed they are already in talks with owners of a resort in Boracay, Aklan for the project, a move that bodes well for the government's aim of generating some $2 billion yearly from the medical tourism industry.
